Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has served as a guest host to the iconic, Jeopardy! game show from April 5 to Friday. However, he faces stiff competition for the full-time gig from someone else in the sports world – Joe Buck, according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post

Buck is the voice of the NFL on Fox and MLB. There is no confirmation yet on how many episodes he will host, but it seems that guest hosts feature for two weeks. Other notable guests have been Katie Couric and Dr. Mehmet Oz. Other scheduled guest hosts include Anderson Cooper, Bill Whitaker, Mayim Bialik, Savannah Guthrie, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Record-setting Jeopardy! winner Ken Jennings and longtime executive producer Mike Richards also suited up to host the show.

Quarterbacks are almost always the smartest people in the locker room, but even by those standards, Aaron Rodgers is one of the best. This manifested in 2015 when he was a contestant on a celebrity edition of the show and bested businessman Kevin O'Leary and astronaut Mark Kelly. Rodgers finished the game with $8,399, which translated to a $50,000 donation to the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer.

Aaron Rodgers is a huge fan of the show and has expressed his desire to be the host on a full-time basis. In his short stint as guest host, he looked comfortable and should be near the top of the list for consideration. He is a household name and could add to its fanbase. Rodgers is coming off an incredible season, in which he won his third NFL MVP award.

Aaron Rodgers is no stranger to vying for a starting spot.
