Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has remained silent even as rumors of a potential departure from his current team have persisted. While there are reports of Rodgers being dissatisfied with the Packers organization, the man himself has not yet addressed the issue publicly.

However, he did send a telling text message to former Packers quarterback Brett Favre that the latter has shared. This could provide hints on whether the reports are true and where he could possibly be headed if he leaves Green Bay.

In an appearance on Jason Wilde and Mark Tauscher's radio show, the three-time NFL MVP revealed that he texted Rodgers and joked about potentially seeing him play for the New Orleans Saints next season. Rodgers, however, revealed that this is something that wouldn't happen, via ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

While the reigning NFL MVP told Favre that he doesn’t believe he’ll play for the Saints, he also didn’t entirely rule out a departure from the Packers. While Green Bay is reportedly reluctant to trade the 37-year-old signal-caller, they also likely wouldn’t trade him to the Saints if they end up shipping him to another team at some point in time during the offseason.

With quarterbacks like Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston on their roster and their salary cap unable to take on his current contract, the Saints also aren’t likely to be Rodgers’ destination. A more likely destination will be a team from the AFC that has a need for a quarterback and has the cap space to absorb his contract with plenty of future draft picks.

While the text could also indicate that Rodgers is staying put, saying that he’ll text Favre “after this is all over,” it could indicate that a move to another team could happen. The only certainty, for now, is that Favre’s text will be analyzed regarding Rodgers’ next move.
