Incoming Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has several fans on the team, and the latest one is none other than the team's GM, Brian Gutekunst.

The longtime team general manager said that he was able to give LaFleur the job mostly because he heard nothing but good things about him.

“Most of that was just talking to people who had coached with Matt, worked with him. Then his presence in the (interview) room was positive as well. He had the whole offense (while) working for a defensive head coach this past year in Tennessee. Him actively seeking that opportunity and doing that this year made me feel pretty good about it.”

Gutekunst went on to say that it was Matt LaFleur's time with the Atlanta Falcons — where he served as the quarterback coach back in 2016 — that ultimately first caught his attention, and made him think that LaFleur had a future as a head coach.

“He’s worked with a bunch of different kinds of quarterbacks is important as well. Those are some of the things you’re never going to completely know until you have the guy in the building doing it, but your best bet is talking with the people that worked with him.”

Matt LaFleur will be working directly with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, in the hopes that he'll be able to guide the Green Bay Packers star to a better way of gameplay. It is, after all, his specialty, as his time in Atlanta more than proved.
