Green Bay Packers tight end Jimmy Graham said he intends to play through a broken thumb, which he suffered in the Packers’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks. And it appears he’s on course to do that.

After missing practice on Wednesday, Graham returned as a participant on Thursday with his injured left thumb wrapped, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Jimmy Graham practiced with his broken left thumb wrapped. He still plans to try to play with it Sunday at Minnesota.

Graham has 34 catches for 452 yards and two touchdowns this season. Lance Kendricks would be the Packers' primary tight end if Graham isn’t able to play against the Vikings on Sunday night. First-year tight end Robert Tonyan, who caught a 54-yard touchdown last time out against the Seahawks, could also get significant playing time if Graham can't go.

While Graham is second on the team in receiving, he has not quite been the dangerous weapon the Packers expected to get when they signed him in free agency last offseason. And even if he does play against the Vikings, it remains to be seen just how effective he will be with his thumb injury.

But with the Packers at 4-5-1, they’re getting pretty close to desperation mode. They need to somehow find a way to turn things around, and they’ll need all the offensive weapons they have at their disposal. So while Graham may not be anywhere close to 100 percent, his presence would still be a welcome addition for Aaron Rodgers and the offense.
