The Green Bay Packers got the short end of the stick against the Atlanta Falcons once again on Sunday evening falling 34-23.

It was a game that also saw them lose veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson to a quad injury in the first quarter, according to NFL.com.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson suffered a quad injury on the team's opening scoring drive against Atlanta and did not return as the Falcons rolled to a 34-23 win.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Nelson's status is up in the air for Week 3.

Nelson suffered the injury on the Packers' opening drive of the game and did not return to the field after that finishing with zero targets. He has been the team's top receiving threat over the last several seasons, but injuries have continued to play a factor as he missed the entire 2015 campaign with a torn ACL.

When he has been healthy, he has produced at an extremely high level with more than 1,200 receiving yards in four out of the last five seasons that he has played along with recording 13 or more receiving touchdowns three times over that span.

Any extended absence could be detrimental to the Packers' passing game given his huge role as Aaron Rodgers' primary receiver. Keep in mind, fellow veteran wideout Randall Cobb also exited Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with an injury.

If he misses any playing time, Green Bay will likely turn to Davante Adams to shoulder the top receiving job as he put together a strong performance against the Falcons with eight catches on 10 targets for 99 receiving yards and a touchdown.
