The Green Bay Packers are already thin at the wide receiver position but it could get even worse for them on Sunday. According to Adam Schefter, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison are game-time decisions for Week 7 versus the Oakland Raiders.
The belief in Green Bay is that at least one of them will suit up on Sunday. Of course, it would be optimal if both wide receivers are able to go in Week 7 as they take on the 3-2 Raiders.
Valdes-Scantling has been dealing with ankle and knee injuries this week in practice. The second-year wideout out of South Florida was able to log a limited practice session on Friday after being sidelined for the first two days of practice.
At 6-foot-4, Valdes-Scantling has the highest upside of the Packers receivers but he's yet to consistently show it on the field. In his six starts this season, he's caught just 19 passes for 283 yards and a touchdown.
As for Allison, he's made quite the progress since Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions. In that game, he made an early exit after sustaining head and chest injuries.
To begin the week, there wasn't much optimism that Allison would be able to play in Week 7. Fortunately, he's shown enough throughout the week for the team to give him a chance to test his injuries in pregame warmups.
With Davante Adams already ruled out, many fans will be paying close attention to Valdes-Scantling and Allison's status on Sunday. In the event that they are both ruled out, Allen Lazard and Jake Kumerow would see increased roles in the offense.
Lazard was the unsung hero in the offense in Week 6 as he caught four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown in just the fourth quarter.
