The Green Bay Packers have activated quarterback Kurt Benkert and have released quarterback Blake Bortles. Benkert has been activated from the practice squad/COVID-19 reserve list, the team announced on Monday.

Bortles had a short stay on the team as he was only with the squad for about two weeks after Aaron Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19.

The Packers are tied for the best record in all of the NFL sitting at 8-2 on the season. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been sensational this season throwing for over 2,100 yards, including 17 touchdowns, and only four interceptions.

There's a chance that we do see some action from Kurt Benkert in the future because Green Bay looks like they are going to cruise their way into the playoffs. The Packers might decide to let Rodgers have a few weeks off towards the end of the season to keep him healthy and ramped up for the playoffs. There's also even a chance that Benkert could be the future quarterback of this team. It's unlikely considering that the Packers have Jordan Love right in front of him, but if they don't feel that Love is the man for the job, there is a chance that Benkert gets a nod.

The future of Green Bay is in an interesting spot. Considering Rodgers made it clear last summer that he did not want to be in Green Bay, there is a possibility that this is his last season in a Packers uniform.
