The Green Bay Packers have a much-improved defense this year for defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage were added to beef up their secondary, but there is another safety to keep an eye on. Raven Green has been proving to the franchise that he is a capable backup for those guys.

According to Pro Football Focus on their Packers' Twitter account, they shared some intriguing and impressive numbers for Greene so far this preseason.

At just 24 years old, Greene could very well be working his way into a role for the Packers this season. With the recent departure of safety Josh Jones, Greene seems to be positioned well to be the team's primary backup safety.

Last season in eight games and limited action with the Packers, Greene put together some interesting numbers. He only recorded five total tackles, but also had a sack, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass. Not bad for a young player who is getting a small chance to prove himself.

Green Bay is hoping to see their defense take a big leap forward from where it has been the last few years. Aaron Rodgers and the offense are always going to be dangerous, but the team needs to find a way to stop opponents. Brian Gutekunst and company believe they have done that with their offseason moves.

It will be interesting to see what kind of role Greene carves out for himself this season. The Packers are without question a team to keep an eye on and if their defense takes the next step, they could very well be a Super Bowl contender.
