Inspired by games like Animal Crossing and Breath of the Wild, Palia is an upcoming MMO focused on building communities. The game's developer, Singularity 6, has raised $30 million to fund its development.

FunPlus Ventures led the Series B financing round for the game. Their COO, Michael Tong, stated that they are “excited to be partners with them as they welcome players into Palia.”

Meanwhile, video game industry veteran Mitch Lasky also invested in the title.

Singularity6 CEO Anthony Leung, a former executive at Riot Games, also mentioned their enthusiasm about Palia‘s positive reception. In a statement with The Hollywood Reporter, he says: “The incredible response from the community has further invigorated us in our pursuit to deliver an immersive online world where players can feel like they truly belong. Creating that experience may have seemed like a daunting prospect, but with all of the support and encouragement we’ve received, we are more heartened than ever.”

Palia aims to be an MMO “where players can build a home and life, meet and befriend a compelling cast of characters, and experience an evolving narrative with other players.

From the looks of the official trailer, the game will contain plenty of customization elements. Crafting, farming, and player housing also appear to be essential features. The game's official website also promises plenty of exploration and an evolving world narrative. It also contains a sign-up link for the game's upcoming Pre-Alpha. Seeing as it's rare to see an MMO that isn't combat-focused, Palia might just breathe new life into the genre.
