Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton hits the big 3-0 on Saturday and it seems his wishlist is pretty short with only one key item, to get a return trip to the Super Bowl. Newton has accomplished a lot so far in his career including a league MVP award and a Super Bowl appearance, but he isn't just satisfied with what he has accomplished.

Newton remembers how the city of Charlotte buzzed when the team reached the Super Bowl in 2015 and he wants to be able to bring that back.

“I just want to start off with a Super Bowl,” Newton told ESPN during an interview at his new lounge, Fellaship. “As a matter of fact, bringing a buzz back to Charlotte in the sense that 2015 was special. It was so long ago. It also was not too long ago.”

“It’s time for us to turn the pages and get back to that style and brand of football, where we’re winning football games as collective group and having that swagger and confidence people know we can play with.”

Newton knows that to bring the team back to that level, it's most important that his shoulder is completely healed and he can play at 100 percent this upcoming season. Newton knows that at times he hasn't been consistent and that is something he has to focus on doing a better job of.

“Consistency and sustaining success is something that has been our issue,” said Newton, who in eight seasons has failed to lead Carolina to consecutive winning seasons. “Let me just say, my issue.

If Newton can stay healthy and be consistent this upcoming season, maybe his birthday wish can come true.
