Cam Newton just can't seem to catch a break.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Carolina Panthers quarterback aggravated his foot injury during his team's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Thursday and is up in the air for the Panthers' Week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Newton initially suffered the foot injury during the preseason.

It has been a rough 2019 for Newton, as he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder back in January, marking the second procedure he has had on his throwing shoulder since the end of 2016.

He also has not gotten off to a great start this season, as he has thrown for 572 yards and an interception while completing just 56.2 percent of his throws and posting a passer rating of 71.

Newton was particularly atrocious against the Buccaneers, as he went 24-for-50 with 324 yards.

The 30-year-old dealt with shoulder issues through the second half of 2018 and missed the final two games of the season as a result. Over the course of the 14 contests in which he did play, Newton threw for 3,395 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 12 picks, registering a completion percentage of 67.9 percent and a passer rating of 94.2.

Newton, who played his collegiate football at Auburn, was originally selected by Carolina with the first overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft.

Since then, he has gone on to make three Pro Bowls while also earning a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2015, the same year that Newton also won an MVP award.

Considered a sleeper team by some coming into this season, the Panthers have gotten off to an 0-2 start.
