Former Carolina Panther Captain Munnerlyn has found himself in some hot water. The veteran cornerback, who is still a free agent, was arrested at Miami International Airport on Friday, according to Fox Sports 640 South Florida’s Andy Slater.

Munnerlyn was reportedly facing a fugitive warrant in Las Vegas on allegations of writing bad checks. He was on his way to Cancun when he was removed from the flight, sources say.

Munnerlyn's attorney, Ricky Patel, reached out to Slater to clear the air.

“This is a complete misunderstanding and we will clear this situation immediately,” his attorney Ricky Patel told Slater.

There has been no official word on any charges being filed as this is still a developing story. If the Las Vegas district attorney does decide to file charges on Munnerlyn this will be a big obstacle for former Panther. It would become an additional burden to overcome before of having any hope of signing with a new team.

Munnerlyn has not played in the NFL since 2018. Although he made it on the Buffalo Bills training camp roster last season, he was eventually cut.

Captain Munnerlyn was drafted in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Panthers. He would play five years in Carolina before signing with the Vikings. He played in Minnesota for three years before returning to Carolina once more in 2017. A former South Carolina Gamecock, he was named to the First Team All-SEC in 2007. In his career he has totaled 529 tackles, 10.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, 12 interceptions and six defensive touchdowns.
