Carolina Panthers running back Cristian McCaffrey has established himself as one of the most promising, young players in the NFL. It seems New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell knew he was something special ever since his days at Stanford.

McCaffrey recently revealed that Bell had contacted him during his sophomore year in college. He feels his advice certainly went a long way, via Spencer Aber of the Jets Wire:

“When I’m a sophomore in college — freshman, sophomore — and someone like that reaches out to you, it definitely means a lot,” McCaffrey said of Bell.

There had been plenty of headlines surrounding Bell after he sat out the 2018 campaign while holding out for a new, long-term contract. Because of this, he caught plenty of flak for what many dubbed as a selfish decision. Regardless, it is safe to say that he is anything but.

It is not often that an NFL player would go out of their way to give some advice to a kid in college, especially one of Bell's caliber. He had already been a Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro while McCaffrey was still at school. However, it is clear that Bell felt the need to reach out to him before he burst onto the NFL scene.

Both players are now two of the most notable workhorses in the league thanks to their skill sets as three-down backs. Now that McCaffrey has benefited from the advice Bell gave him, perhaps it is time for him to return the favor.
