The Carolina Panthers have parted with head coach Ron Rivera heading into Week 14 of the 2019 NFL season. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has already emerged as the front-runner for the job.

Harbaugh is currently listed as the betting favorite for the vacancy in Carolina, via OddsShark:

Odds to be the next Head Coach of the Panthers (BetOnline):

Jim Harbaugh +300
Jason Garrett +500
Josh McDaniels +550
Dan Quinn +600
Urban Meyer +600
Greg Roman +1200
Mike LaFleur +1200
Jay Gruden +1400
Doug Marrone +1600
Pat Shurmur +1800
Doug Pederson +2000
Bill Cowher +10000

It is no secret that the Panthers fell vastly short of expectations this year. Meanwhile, all the looming speculation about quarterback Cam Newton's future indicated that some significant changes are on the way. They have now essentially solidified that notion by firing Rivera after nine seasons with the team.

Harbaugh is currently in the midst of an underwhelming campaign at Michigan. Another embarrassing loss to rival Ohio State has now seemingly put him in the hot seat. As a result, it seems bettors are envisioning a transition back to the NFL in the near future.

Among the other notable betting favorites are Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Although the Cowboys are in the midst of a grueling two-game skid, Garrett still has a chance to lead them to another divisional title thanks to the abysmal state of the NFC East.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if McDaniels is finally willing to leave head coach Bill Belichick's side after going back on his decision to become the next head coach if the Indianapolis Colts prior to last season.
