The Carolina Panthers have now also officially given up on kicker Robert Aguayo, as the National Football League franchise has cut the former second-round draft pick.

This continues the rather dramatic fall from grace for the former Florida State Seminoles standout. Coming out of college, Robert Aguayo was presumed to be such a great prospect as a kicker that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did the unheard of, drafting a kicker in the second-round.

For those unaware, the bust of a kicker set collegiate records while at Florida State. While he is most known to miss all the kicks in the NFL, he would rarely miss kicks — no matter the distance — when not being paid to make them.

The Panthers were Aguayo's third different chance to try to figure it out as a professional kicker. Even though he is still young, whatever the issues are with his abilities, will now likely prevent him from ever making a real roster again.

Maybe he gets an invite to a few offseason camps, but barring some crazy turnaround in what has been a disappointing career, he's likely going the way of the dinosaurs.

A real shame, especially given that he doesn't lack talent, but has some sort of mental block that has prevented him from maximizing it.
