Free agent cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who most recently suited up for the Carolina Panthers, is expected to be one of the better available players at his position ahead of the NFL's free agency period. Gilmore, 31, arrived in Carolina via a trade from the New England Patriots, who received a sixth-round pick in the acquisition of the star corner. In a recent call with ESPN's Josina Anderson, Gilmore revealed that players from teams around the league have been actively recruiting him. Not only that, but the star corner revealed his free agency demands.

Judging by these comments, it doesn't sound like Stephon Gilmore will be returning to the Panthers, unless Carolina makes a big splash at quarterback. Gilmore specifically emphasized winning on his free agency wish list, which the Panthers didn't do a whole lot of in 2021, as they lost their last seven straight contests.

The five-time Pro Bowler appeared in just eight games for the Panthers but acquitted himself well, earning a very solid 79.4 coverage grade, via Pro Football Focus. Spotract projects Gilmore's market value to be just above $14 million per year.

That seems like a very fair price to pay for someone who won the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year award just three seasons ago. With the free agent period set to begin shortly, Gilmore has narrowed the field down a bit.
