Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis got some degree of a break, as the NFL has decided to cut down his suspension to one game. This is according to NFL Vice President of Football Communications Michael Signora.

Davis initially received a two-game suspension due to a blindside hit he applied on Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams last Sunday, a play that also got the Panthers penalized for 15 yards.

The hit forced Davis to exit the game, leaving Aaron Rodgers with one key downfield target out in the 31-24 road loss.

Adams, who leads the Packers in receptions, targets, receiving yards, and touchdowns, was diagnosed with a concussion following Davis’ ill-advised hit. The Packers wide receiver is currently in concussion protocol and his availability for Week 16’s game at home against the Minnesota Vikings remains up in the air. If Adams would not be cleared in time, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb will see an uptick in snaps along with Geronimo Allison.

As for Davis, he will be sidelined for Week 16’s regular season home finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this coming Sunday. He’ll be eligible to take the field again in Week 17 on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
