Todd Gurley calls Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey ‘unstoppable’ and an MVP candidate
Another week, another spectacular performance from Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey. It appears he has already received quite the endorsement from Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley.
The media recently pointed out that McCaffrey currently has more yards from scrimmage than both Gurley and Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott combined. Although the Rams’ star was perplexed by the comparison, he acknowledged that McCaffrey is in the midst of an MVP-caliber campaign, via Twitter:

There is certainly plenty of truth to Gurley’s comments. He got to witness McCaffrey’s skill set in person during the Rams’ win over the Panthers in the 2019 NFL season opener. It is safe to say that he has become a firm believer in his candidacy for MVP after running wild against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.
Like Todd Gurley, McCaffrey is just as dangerous in the passing game as he is in the run game. His versatile skill set has allowed Carolina to utilize him as the central force of their offense, especially with quarterback Cam Newton sidelined. He solidified this notion after rushing for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 19 carries while tacking on six receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown versus Jacksonville.
Gurley knows full well what it takes to earn the highest individual honor in the NFL after coming up short of the award in a year where many felt he should have won MVP but was named Offensive Player of the Year instead. McCaffrey will have to fend off quite a few quarterbacks the rest of the way if he hopes to secure his bid. More importantly, he must remain as healthy as possible.
