After a strong start to the year, the Carolina Panthers suffered their first loss of the season as they came away with a 36-28 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4.

The Panthers came into the contest ranking second in the NFL in points per game allowed, with a 10.0 average. Still, quarterback Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense had their way with moving the ball down the field against the Panthers defense, as they finished 3-3 in the red zone and posted a notable 7.7 yards per play average.

As expected, Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold is far from pleased with this result. He threw two interceptions against the Cowboys and was also sacked five times.

After the game, Darnold opened up on his takeaways from this road loss to Dallas and also shared his viewpoint on how Carolina should respond to the performance.

“I saw a lot of guys that were pissed off, but in a good way,” Darnold said. “They were eager to go watch the tape & get better from this. We got a bunch of good guys in that locker room, resilient guys. I think that's a great way to put it.

“You can either put your head down and sulk or you can watch the tape, get better from it and continue to practice hard and practice well this whole next week getting ready for Philly. We've got a bunch of guys in that locker room who are going to do that.”

Even after this defeat, the Panthers still currently hold the top spot in the NFC South with a 3-1 record, although the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could also reach this record with a road win over the New England Patriots later in Week 4. But for now, Carolina is set to receive a pair of early season tests with the upcoming home matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings.
