The Carolina Panthers have won just five games in back-to-back seasons and at this point, they desperately need a new quarterback to right the ship and get this team back into contention.

Carolina remains interested in Houston Texans signal-caller Deshaun Watson and with his legal issues clearing up very soon here, they could be ready to pounce and make a major move. However, as Ian Rapoport notes, the Panthers will certainly face competition for his services.

The Seahawks are in dire need of a QB now after trading Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still searching for a replacement for Tom Brady. Nevertheless, the Panthers would absolutely love to acquire a signal-caller of Watson's caliber after yet another atrocious offensive campaign.

Between Sam Darnold, Cam Newton, and PJ Walker, Carolina couldn't find any success. They lost the final seven games of the 2021 season and none of these players profile as the long-term solution. It's unknown what the Panthers would have to give up in a trade for Watson, but considering his legal situation, Houston likely just wants to cut ties and move on.

It will be very interesting to see if Carolina can pull the trigger and get Deshaun Watson. If they do, this team will have a much different look in 2022.
