Distraction or game-changer? Those two narratives have chased three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. nearly his entire professional career. The star wideout is currently on the Cleveland Browns, but some see Beckham Jr. joining another squad in the offseason: the New England Patriots.

CBS Sports' Will Brinson is predicting the 27-year-old former Offensive Rookie of the Year with the New York Giants will be heading to Foxborough to join Bill Belichick and the Patriots this spring via trade.

In his mock draft for the 2020 class in April, Brinson pencils in the Patriots trading their first-round pick (the 23rd overall pick in the draft) to the Browns to acquire Beckham in what would be a blockbuster deal:

So we'll spice things up by having the Patriots deal their first-round pick to Cleveland for none other than Odell Beckham Jr. No one can say the deal for Odell from the Giants worked out well for the Browns. A first-year coach got fired. A second-year GM got fired. Baker Mayfield took huge steps back.

The Browns dismissed head coach Freddie Kitchens—franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield's ex-quarterbacks coach the year prior—after one season in charge of the club, later hiring Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski to lead Cleveland. The Browns also traded for Beckham from the Giants the previous offseason to bolster Mayfield's wide receiver corps, joining former LSU Tigers teammate in wideout Jarvis Landry.

It didn't go exactly as planned for Beckham, Landry, and Mayfield, with the former Giant recording 1,035 receiving yards on 74 catches for four touchdowns, and the Browns going 6-10 one year removed from barely missing the cut-off of the 2018-19 postseason.

Beckham's numbers were hardly pedestrian, but, according to one insider, he could see his career change dramatically with an offseason trade to football's Evil Empire in the Patriots.
