Retired NFL offensive lineman turned broadcaster Damien Woody has some keen insight into the mind of former New England Patriots teammate Tom Brady.
Woody, 42, a two-time Super Bowl champion with Brady and the Patriots, is predicting the six-time champ leaves the venerated New England squad in the offseason in 2020.
Woody explained his prediction on ESPN's NFL Live on Monday:
Brady could be inching towards signing with another team this spring instead of re-signing with his longtime Patriots. Brady made wavelengths during the Super Bowl — despite the fact he wasn't playing. That would be because the Patriots were knocked out in the AFC Wild Card Round by the Tennessee Titans. However, he did star in a commercial aired during the big game for a streaming service. He declared he wasn't going anywhere, likely squashing retirement rumors.
In spite of promising to keep playing professionally in 2020, there are still many questions about whether the Patriots will reach an agreement with Brady or not.
In Woody's mind, Brady has already left the building, in this case Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
