Four days after being released by the Cleveland Browns, veteran wide receiver Kenny Britt signed a two-year deal with the New England Patriots on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the 29-year-old chose the Patriots over a pair of other AFC playoff contending teams in the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Chiefs and Jaguars offered Britt an opportunity to play in a big role, but the Patriots present a chance for him to be a larger weapon in their passing game. New England has struggled to find consistent production from their wide receivers this season, which may open the door for Britt to quickly become a dependable option.

Additionally, Britt likely couldn't pass up the chance to take the field with quarterback Tom Brady, who is still playing at an elite level in his 18th campaign. Britt could prove to be a strong asset in both the red zone and as a legitimate deep threat.

Britt is only a season removed from his most productive campaign with the Los Angeles Rams, posting career highs with 68 catches and 1,002 receiving yards, as well as five touchdowns. However, he struggled with the Browns this year, recording just 18 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns in nine games.
