The New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams are both headed to Atlanta, where they will lock horns for the right to take home a Vince Lombardi Trophy and have a parade downtown, as the stage is set for Super Bowl 53.
While both fanbases are currently drowning in revelry following the win of their respective teams, oddsmakers have already released early odds for that huge matchup. Over at BetOnline.Ag, the Patriots are currently tagged as slim one-point favorites to be the last team standing this season. It can be remembered that the Patriots were also the chalks in last year's Super Bowl, but fell victim to Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles in the grandest stage of football.
That being said, it's only one of the few cases over the last handful of years in which the Patriots unable to cover the spread as the favorite in a playoff game. In fact, the Patriots have eclipsed the spread in seven of their last 10 games as the chalk in a postseason contest dating back to 2015. They are also 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games in the playoffs.
As for the Rams, they have won against the spread in each of their last four games, including Sunday's 26-23 road win over the New Orleans Saints in which they were a three-point underdog.
Since 2001, the Patriots are 5-1 straight up and 5-1 against the spread in six meetings with the Rams franchise.
