There is plenty of hype surrounding the matchup between New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, it appears the two are not as close as the media may have hoped.

Brady has shared plenty of praise for Rodgers over the years. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, he was still quick to correct a reporter when they suggested if the two shared a “bromance.”:

“I don’t call it that,” Brady said.

So what does he call it?

“Call what?” Brady said. “My relationship with him? We know each other. We’re friends.”

It is easy to assume that Brady and Rodrs would be close friends off the field. Both are widely considered the best quarterbacks in today's NFL. They both come from California and have each managed to stave off the bounds of Father Time by getting better with age. However, it seems that is about all they share in common.

It is not often two of the best quarterbacks in the game get to battle on primetime. So it should come as no surprise that the media would try to blow it up in any way they can. Fortunately, there does not need to be a “bromance” between these two in order to make the game interesting.

Green Bay has been within striking distance of every game they have lost this year. They now find themselves in a must-win situation moving forward in the competitive NFC North. Meanwhile, New England has started to click on all cylinders after a slow start to the year. A win over the Packers would not only give an extra edge to Brady in the debates regarding him and Rodgers, but it will also give the Patriots a firm hold atop AFC East.
