Since he retired from the NFL after the 2018 season, New England Patriots fans have been clamoring for Rob Gronkowski to return to the league. While rumors have stayed prevalent in the media, Gronkowski hinted at a potential return to the NFL.

After nine remarkable seasons with the Patriots, Gronkowski retired from the NFL following the 2018 season. The All-Pro tight end attributed injuries and the pain his body endured as reasons why he stepped away from football.

Once Gronkowski departed from New England, the Patriots scrambled to find his replacement. During the 2019 campaign, it was evident that Tom Brady and the Patriots missed having Rob Gronkowski in the offense. Therefore, while New England's offense continued to falter, there continued to be rumors that Gronkowski could return to the team.

On the contrary, Gronkowski continued to deny those reports and continued with his life after football. However, after a year of not playing in the NFL, Gronkowski is keeping the door open for a return.

Of course, if Gronkowski does decide to return to the NFL, it remains to be seen if would rejoin the Patriots. Seeing that Brady left to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he could join his former quarterback in Florida.

In the event that Gronkowski would become interested in joining Brady, he would need to be traded since he's technically still under contract with the Patriots. For over a year, fans have been longing to see Gronkowski make a valiant return to the gridiron.
