It goes without saying that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is perhaps the most decorated player in NFL history. However, it appears there is still one milestone that the 40-year-old is trying to achieve.
Despite Brady’s passing prowess, it is no secret that he has never been the most mobile quarterback. He is hoping to dispell this notion by reaching 1,000 career rushing yards in the 2018 NFL season.
Brady made the announcement with a post on Instagram:

Brady’s sprints on the beach are reminiscent of the 40-yard dash he ran at the Scouting Combine all those years ago. However, the most comical part of his post is the hashtags that he posted along with it. They involve clear reference to known mobile quarterbacks like Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers.
Meanwhile, he also suggested that it will be much harder for Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller to sack him in the future.
It is clear that Brady is also well-aware of his career stats. He needs just 32 yards to reach 1,00 rushing yards. Although it may seem like a sure thing next season, Brady only managed to muster up 28 yards on 25 carries.
Needless to say, head coach Bill Belichick has been more cautious about his running opportunities in recent years. This means Brady may have to make the most of his carries moving forward.
Fortunately, Brady is still at the top of his game coming off an MVP campaign. However, it is still safe to assume that he will be more focused on sealing the deal after a bitter end to the 2017 NFL season.
