Khamzat Chimaev has been impressing everyone in the UFC so far with his dominant victories and fun fight style. Paul Felder remains someone that is a little bit skeptical despite all of the excitement.

Paul Felder doesn't question Khamzat Chimaev's abilities in the cage though, the former UFC lightweight thinks his greatest opponent is not an actual fighter. Chimaev has to prove that he can actually make the weight when he fights at welterweight.

“Even if we all agree right now that [Khamzat Chimaev is] the best guy in the division, hands down,” the UFC commentator and former lightweight fighter explained on a recent episode of MMA Fighting’s The Fighter vs. the Writer podcast, “you’ve got to prove first of all to me—and I’m sure to the UFC staff—that you can make welterweight easier than you did the last time,” Felder said. “That was a shit show.”

Khamzat Chimaev had big issues with his weight cut back at UFC 267 and was actually the very last fighter to weigh in. The Swedish welterweight came to the scales to weigh in with only a few minutes left to make weight.

Khamzat Chimaev showed no issues in the fight though as he was able to take out Li Jingliang with ease. He took him down and found the submission very quickly to announce himself as a contender at welterweight.

Paul Felder makes an interesting point and it will have to be seen how things go when Khamzat Chimaev fights Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 in April. A win is expected to put the Swedish fighter firmly in title contention.
