Indiana Pacers star Paul George is having a year that's shaping up to be a great one. Yesterday, he was revealed as the new NBA 2k coverboy, and now he has decided to attempt to re-join Team USA for this summer's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Prior to the 2015-2016 season, George suffered a horrific leg injury playing defense in a USA basketball scrimmage game, jumping against the basket stanchion and fracturing his leg.

After initially saying he would pass on this summer's Olympics, George told ESPN that he'd seemingly changed his mind now that he's back into basketball form.

“I think I kind of said that too prematurely. I didn't give myself enough time to really think it through. I think since I've been off, my body's telling me yes, my mind is telling me yes, people around me are telling me yes. So I feel good about it. And, you know … I want to give (the Olympic team) a shot.”

After a successful, All-Star first season back after a long rehab and a trip to the first round of the NBA playoffs, George is looking to reclaim the spot Team USA managing director Jerry Coleangelo promised him after his injury.

The Olympic team roster has not been officially set or announced, but the team will begin training in exhibition games on July 23 in Los Angeles.

The Olympic basketball tournament begins on August 6 in Rio de Janeiro.
