Jrue Holiday might be with the Milwaukee Bucks now but his heart will always belong to New Orleans as well. After Hurricane Ida battered the city last month, Holiday and his wife Lauren have led a donation drive to help affected residents recover from the devastating calamity.

In a report by Andrew Lopez of ESPN, the Holidays will help various communities in Southeast Louisiana by sending this weekend four trucks filled with basic necessities, including generators and gift cards for gas and stores. Jrue's former teammates on the New Orleans Pelicans, Jahlil Okafor, Langston Galloway, and Frank Jackson, also donated to the cause.

The Holidays said in a statement that they are always indebted to New Orleans, where Jrue suited up for seven seasons as the Pelicans' star point guard.

“We will always consider New Orleans home for us and the people have always supported us through our most difficult times and it's our job to do the same.”

Even after almost a month since Hurricane Ida hit, many residents in NOLA remain without electricity. During the peak of the storm, almost one million people were affected, conjuring sad memories from Hurricane Katrina. But with the help of the Holidays and company, the residents will soon get back on track.

Jrue Holiday has always been a huge contributor to society, even giving up the remainder of his salary in the 2019-20 season to help the Black communities in New Orleans and his hometown of Los Angeles. Last season, he was voted the winner of the NBA Sportsmanship Award.
