New Orleans Pelicans sharpshooter JJ Redick has been a popular name amid recent trade rumors, but the team is still “reluctant” to trade him, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times. This opens the door for the franchise to trade Jrue Holiday, another player who had been rumored to be in potential talks.

Contending teams would love to have an elite marksman like Redick as their new weapon, but it seems the Pelicans are happy with how he has influenced the team as a 35-year-old veteran. Redick signed a two-year, $26.5 million deal with the Pels once it became obvious the Philadelphia 76ers, with whom he spent his last two seasons, had much bigger fish to fry — dealing with the impending max contracts of Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris.

Holiday, on the other hand, was previously uninterested in going elsewhere after being one of the few remaining pieces from the devastating roster overhaul in the wake of the Anthony Davis trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Pels' front office looked at Holiday like a building block and a quality two-way veteran player, but after starting the season with a 6-21 mark, there isn't much that can be appealing for a player hitting his prime.

Besides Redick, names like Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram will be off the board, as the latter two are viewed as untouchable in any trade conversations.

Holiday could fetch a big price on the trade market, and he could quickly rise as one of the most sought-after names available for a jersey swap ahead of the Feb. 6 cutout date.
