New Orleans Pelicans rookie sensation Zion Williamson will be held out of Friday night's matchup against the Washington Wizards for rest, according to the team.

It's the second night of a back-to-back set for the Pelicans, so the team is just taking it easy on Williamson, who is still working his way up in the minutes count.

In Thursday's 140-125 loss to the Sacramento Kings, Williamson logged 22 minutes, recording 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field (4-of-7 from the free-throw line), two assists and two rebounds. Notably, Zion made his first eight shot attempts in the game.

On the season, Williamson is averaging 22.4 points on 58.8 percent shooting, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 27.9 minutes per outing.

At 29-39, the Pelicans are currently ranked 13th in the West, but the team is still in the hunt for the eighth and final seed for this season's playoffs. They'll need to work for it, though, as there are several other teams vying for the spot, including the Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings.

Friday night's matchup between the Pelicans and Wizards is set to tip inside the NBA's bubble complex at 8:00 p.m. ET on Friday. Simply put, the New Orleans can't afford many more losses. The Pelicans should be able to beat the lowly Wizards without Zion, but there are no guarantees in this league.
