New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson is honored to be on the cover of the next-generation release of NBA 2K21, a nod he received even before completing his first year in the league.
The Pelicans phenom became the youngest player to grace the cover of the franchise — something he found truly special:
“Realizing that I am going to be on the cover of NBA 2K21 was one of those moments that I am still processing,” said an incredulous Williamson. “I dreamed about being on the cover of 2K, y'know? For 2K to give me this honor of being on the cover, it means a lot because I've always played 2K — with my teammates, with my friends growing up, 2K has always been there.”

Williamson has only played 19 games in the NBA, but he has already managed to impress fans, averaging 23.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists thus far.
There have been more NBA 2K games than years in Williamson's life, so it stands to reason that the young star has come to idolize this staple of the gaming community.
Williamson, born in 2000, is not old enough to remember the days of NBA Live that preceded the 2K franchise, which took over in the mid-2000s. Be that as it may, Williamson has grown seeing iconic athletes like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and others grace the cover of this video game, hoping one day it would be him there.
Damian Lillard will be the cover athlete of the standard edition of NBA 2K21, while Williamson will grace that of next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, both bound to launch during this year's holiday season.
There will be one more cover athlete joining Williamson and Lillard, and it's widely expected to be Kobe Bryant gracing the Legend Edition.
