The 2022 Masters Tournament is right around the corner and set to begin on April 7th. There are certainly plenty of talented golfers expected to participate in the event. However, the odds of Tiger Woods being able to play seemed highly unlikely just a few weeks ago. But Woods is reportedly “exhausting every effort” to be able to participate in the Masters, per Todd Lewis.

Woods was involved in a devastating car crash last year and there were legitimate concerns not just about his status for short-term tournaments, but for his entire golfing career moving forward. But he remains listed in the field to compete for a chance to play in the Masters after making steady progress.

Arguably the greatest golfer ever, Woods has not yet participated in any top-tier events since undergoing post-accident surgery.

Tiger Woods says that the walking aspect has been the most challenging part in returning to the game.

“I’m still working on the walking part. It takes time.”

He continued.

“I have seen progress, I am a lot stronger than I was. I can play weekend warrior golf, that’s easy, but to be able to be out here and play six rounds of golf – practice round, pro-am, four competitive days – I’m not able to do that yet.”

For those who don’t know, professional golfers are required to walk the course during professional match play. There could possibly be an exception for Woods, but the odds of that occurring are unlikely.

So we won’t know if he will be participating in the Masters at this juncture. But it is undeniably great to see Tiger Woods rebuilding strength and getting back to normalcy.
