On Thursday, the Memorial tournament announced that World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has committed to play in the PGA Tour's Signature Event, which begins on June 6th at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.

Scheffler is scheduled to be arraigned in Louisville at 9 a.m. ET on Monday, June 3.

Scheffler is still charged with three misdemeanors and second-degree felony assault of a police office stemming from his arrest before the second round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club.

Footage released Thursday appeared to dispute the police report filed by arresting officer, Detective Bryan Gillis, who was not wearing his bodycam.

Scheffler's attorney, Stephen Romine, said Thursday's developments did not impact their legal strategy.

“Our position is the same as it was last Friday. Scottie Scheffler didn't do anything wrong. We're not interested in settling the case. We'll either try it, or it'll be dismissed. All the evidence that continues to come out continues to support what Scottie said all along. This was a chaotic situation, a miscommunication. Scottie did nothing wrong.”

A few hours later, Scheffler — who still finished T8 at the PGA Championship — carded maybe his worst round of the 2024 PGA Tour season: a wayward 2-over 72 at the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, TX.

Scheffler resides in Dallas.

Scheffler, 27, has played the Memorial three times. He's finished in third place each of the past two years.

Wyndham Clark, Max Homa, Will Zalatoris, and Rickie Fowler were also announced in the field. Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay will participate in the limited field, no-cut event.
