With yet another 20-plus rebound performance last night for Detroit Pistons star center Andre Drummond against the Houston Rockets, he now is just one game shy of tying former Pistons great Ben Wallace's NBA single-season record.

According to Stat Muse/ Basketball Reference's Justin Kubatko, Drummond inched even closer to etching his name next to Wallace in the NBA history books.

“The Detroit Pistons' Andre Drummond has 15 games with at least 20 rebounds this season, the most such games by an NBA player since Ben Wallace had 16 in 2002-03,” Kubatko said.

Despite Drummond's game-high 20 rebounds and 15 points against the Rockets at Toyota Center, his beastly effort on the glass was simply not enough as the Pistons lost 100-96 in overtime.

Yet again, dismal three-point shooting by the Pistons was ultimately what sank head coach Stan Van Gundy's squad in such a tight loss to the NBA's top team.

Via an article written by Pistons.com web editor Keith Langlois:

“We just … we couldn’t make a shot,” coach Van Gundy said after his team's defeat on Thursday night. “Their defense had a lot to do with it. I mean, we were 4-of-36 from three (and) we made the last two to go 6-for-38 to bring us up to 15 percent.”

Drummond and the Pistons (32-40) begin a three-game homestand at Little Caesars Arena tomorrow night when they host the rival Chicago Bulls, the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night, and the Washington Wizards on Thursday night.

Heading into Friday night's slate of games, Detroit still remains 5.5 games back of the Milwaukee Bucks for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
