Stan Van Gundy's firing is slated to play a major role in the building of the Detroit Pistons, but the former has also been responsible for building some of these players into who they are today.

Center Andre Drummond expressed his gratitude with a tweet shortly after the news went viral.

Drummond led the league in rebounding in two out of Van Gundy's four seasons with the team, including a career-high 16 rebounds per game this 2017-18 season (the most since Dennis Rodman).

Despite his often hysterical antics from the sidelines, Van Gundy is beloved by some of his players, as backup point guard Ish Smith saw most of his growth at the position under his helm.

“I'm going to miss Stan,” Smith told Rod Beard of The Detroit News. “This is my second stint with him. He was really instrumental to my growth as a player.”

It seems that even if Van Gundy didn't work out with this current roster, he will be missed by some of these players and surely appreciated for the sweat put forward in his four years with the organization.
