Detroit Pistons star power forward Blake Griffin says it's a “luxury” and not a “challenge” learning how to play with Derrick Rose.

Griffin and Rose are the Pistons' two best offensive players. They struggled to co-exist on Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but it was the first time they were playing together in the regular season.

Making his season debut, Griffin finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 23 minutes. He missed the first 10 games of the season due to hamstring and knee issues.

Rose, meanwhile, returned to the lineup after missing the previous four games with a hamstring strain. The former MVP was very rusty, as Rose put up just six points and five assists on 3-of-13 shooting from the field.

The Pistons are 4-7 on the season. They face the Miami Heat on Tuesday, but both Griffin and Rose won’t play since it’s the second night of a back-to-back.

Rose is going to have to get his 3-point game back to the way it was last season with the Timberwolves if he wants to mesh with Griffin. Because Griffin is a ball-dominant big who gets a lot of touches in the post, Rose's usage rate is going to decrease moving forward.

However, Griffin is a great passer at his position. Rose is going to get a lot of open looks from beyond the arc when he's on the floor with Griffin. The Pistons guard has to knock down those shots as the season moves along.

Staggering Rose and Griffin throughout the game could be a strategy head coach Dwane Casey elects to use as well so Detroit always has an elite scorer on the floor. Griffin and Rose, though, have to figure out how to play with each other because they are going to be closing games in the fourth quarter.
