The Detroit Pistons may have lost and failed in their comeback bid against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, but they did get a glimpse of what their future holds with Cade Cunningham leading the way.

Cunningham scored a career-high 34 points and almost finished with a triple-double with eight rebounds and eight assists in a tight 110-105 loss to the Nuggets. He also had two steals, four blocks and six triples made. In the process, he became just the third rookie in the past 40 seasons to lead his team in all six categories in a game, following in the footsteps of Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Now that is certainly some great company to be with. While Cade Cunningham would have loved to top that off with a W, that doesn't mean they cannot take pride from their performance.

They Pistons actually played pretty well and it seemed they were headed to an epic upset after erasing a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, they ran out of gas in the end and allowed the Nuggets to score the final six points of the contest.

Cunningham had a rough start to his career, slowed down by an early injury. Nonetheless, there is no doubt he is showing everyone why he is the top pick of the 2021 NBA Draft.
