Derrick Rose of the Detroit Pistons has been one of the biggest names that have been thrown around in the trade market of late. Currently having arguably his best season since his career-threatening ACL injury nearly a decade ago, the 31-year-old veteran has attracted the attention of a number of contenders that are looking to fortify their backcourt for the long haul.

As it turns out, however, Rose wants to stay put. The former MVP understands that it's ultimately not going to be his decision, but if he were given a choice, he would much rather stay in Detroit.

“It’s up to the front office,” Rose said, via team insider Vince Ells. “[Pistons vice chairman] Arn [Tellem] gave me his word that if something were to happen, he will text or call, but I told him that I want to stay here, but it’s not up to me. You already know how that goes.”

Rose signed with the Pistons last summer on a two-year, $15 million deal. Currently, he is averaging 18.9 points (on 49.9 percent shooting), 2.6 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 0.8 steals, while also connecting on 1.0 triples per ballgame.

It's great that Rose is exhibiting his loyalty to the Pistons despite the team's rather lackluster season. If he were chasing a ring, he would definitely be better off joining a contender like the Los Angeles Lakers or the Philadelphia 76ers — two teams that have been linked to the three-time All-Star. With how things stand with the Pistons right now, though, it wouldn't be hard to imagine Rose dawning a different uniform in the next week or so.
