Pistons senior adviser Ed Stefanski offered a response to Andre Drummond's critical remarks on social media after learning that he had been traded to the Cavs just before Thursday's trade deadline.

The Cavs acquired Drummond from the Pistons for John Henson, Brandon Knight and a future second-round pick. For Drummond, the deal came as a surprise, as he thought he would be staying in Detroit. After learning that he'd been dealt, the former 9th overall pick sent out a tweet, noting the “lack of loyalty in the NBA.”

“If there’s one thing I learned about the NBA, there’s no friends or loyalty,” Drummond wrote. “I’ve given my heart and soul to the Pistons, and to have this happen with no heads up makes me realize even more that this is just a business! I love you Detroit.”

Stefanski, who admits that the Cavs came into the picture late on Thursday, says he understands Drummond's frustration:

“The worst thing in the world is have to trade someone who's been here (for a long time),” Stefanski said Friday, via detroitnews.com. “This is the only place he's been in. Emotions are raw. Dre knew he was in trade talks and I was talking to his representatives about different things. Cleveland came in late. I guess you'd have to talk to Dre what exactly he meant. But again, emotions are raw when this stuff happens. I understand that.”

Drummond, now 26 years of age, was the longest-tenured member on the Pistons' roster. Now, though, he'll look to make the most of his new opportunity in Cleveland.
