Fans of the Detroit Pistons may only have a few reasons to celebrate this offseason, with the arrival of Avery Bradley and the selection of Luke Kennard in June’s NBA Draft as the two main reasons for them to be excited about. However, Ish Smith recently shared the development in Reggie Jackson’s injury, that will surely add to their optimism about their team’s chances next season.

The 29-year-old Wake Forest product spoke with Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press, where he revealed that his fellow point guard is currently in Los Angeles and getting close to returning to his old form.

“He’s out there in California enjoying himself, but he’s getting better,” Smith said. “He’s getting back to the Reggie Jackson everybody knows and loves.”

Even head coach Stan Van Gundy echoed his statement, while adding that he's also regaining his confidence, and that he will visit him soon to check on his progress.

“He’s doing well and feeling good, and I think feeling confident too,” Van Gundy said. “Things are going in the right way so I’m going to go out there some time in the next couple weeks and spend some time with him.”

Jackson's recovery will be a huge boost to the Pistons next season, who are looking to make the playoffs and make a lot of noise in the Eastern Conference. If he can play close to the level he was at during the early part of last year's campaign, the Pistons could turn out to be one of the surprise teams in the league and have a better chance of securing a postseason appearance.
