Detroit Pistons legend Chauncey Billups says he wasn't surprised by power forward Blake Griffin's All-Star campaign last season.

Billups was teammates with Griffin on the Los Angeles Clippers back in the day and says the high-flyer is a really hard worker.

“Absolutely not. I enjoyed my couple of years playing with Blake and one thing I learned playing with him is this dude is a worker,” Billups told Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press. “He’s at the gym before everybody and by the time people would show up, he was changing his shirt. This dude is a worker.

“I knew that he would have a great season. I knew the people in Detroit would love him because he comes to work every single day. He’s really competitive. He hates to lose. He hates to play bad and when you have those kinds of traits, most of the time you are going to be a great player.”

Blake Griffin was a monster for the Pistons last season. The former No. 1 overall pick averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and 75.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Griffin, who is a six-time All-Star now, made the All-Star team last season for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

The Pistons made the playoffs last season, but got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first-round. Griffin only played in Games 3 and 4 of that series due to a knee injury which required surgery after the season ended.

With Griffin and Andre Drummond leading the charge, the Pistons should make the playoffs again next season. Detroit signed former MVP Derrick Rose and small forward Markieff Morris in free agency, two veterans who will help the team with scoring off the bench.
