Andre Drummond is still a Detroit Piston, but it seems like this is his farewell tour to the team that drafted him ninth overall in the 2012 Draft. Reggie Jackson's words make it seem like it, after all.

The point guard talked to the press about playing with Drummond for the past couple of years. Jackson couldn't help but tear up when talking about his time with the center.

It's understandable why he was moved to tears when talking about the big man. He enjoyed playing with him the moment he got traded to the team from the Oklahoma City Thunder. He had a great time playing alongside him, and their chemistry showed in their superb pick-and-roll game. Moreover, Drummond's career averages of 14.2 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.6 blocks makes him a superb player to work with.

Drummond declared that he will be exploring free agency this summer as he didn't feel respected by the Pistons organization. He feels like he put on the work over the past couple of years to be given a max contract. However, the team doesn't share his sentiments and are hesitant to give him what he wants. He believes that players who play hard and get superb stats have the right to be given max contracts.

Slam's Marcel Mutoni recounted Drummond's logic behind his decision:

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a basketball player. With the work you put in, you should be rewarded for it — no matter who you are. If it’s me or even a rookie. Everybody feels like they should make a maximum amount of dollars.”

“No player should feel like they’re not a max player. Every player should feel like they’re worth that sum of money because of the hard work you put in each and every day.”

Pistons fans will eventually get used to life without Drummond, but Jackson's tears tell us that he won't be able to adjust to it anytime soon.
