After not hearing his name get called in last week’s NBA Draft in Brooklyn, guard Keenan Evans has finally found a team that can fulfill his dreams of playing in the NBA.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Detroit Pistons have signed Evans to a two-way deal.

A two-way deal does not guarantee Evans that he will make his way into the big league this coming season, but the Pistons have the option of promoting the former Texas Tech Red Raider to the team and keep him there for up to 45 days. Otherwise, he’ll be plying his trade in Detroit’s G-League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive.

Evans, who stands 6-foot-3, blossomed into a star in Texas Tech in his senior year in Lubbock. Together with Philadelphia 76ers rookie Zhaire Smith, Evans carried the Red Raiders into the NCAA National Tournament, where they even reached the Elite Eight round before losing to eventual national champs, Villanova Wildcats.

Evans’ best game last season was his 38-point explosion in an overtime win over Mo Bamba and the Texas Longhorns on Jan. 31.

Evans led the Red Raiders last season with 17.6 points per game, while shooting 47.1 percent from the field. He still needs to polish on his long ball, as he knocked down just 32.0 percent of his 3-point shots. He is also a dependable defender, having averaged 1.0 steal per game in college.

If he impresses the Pistons enough, Evans could find himself receiving a full-time deal just as what Detroit did to guard Dwight Buycks last season.
