Portland Trail Blazers guard Seth Curry snuck out in transition during the fourth quarter of Saturday's contest against the Detroit Pistons and appeared to have two points at the rim. Unfortunately for one of the league's most lethal three-point marksman, Pistons center Thon Maker was lurking for an enormous swat that sent the ball flying out of bounds.

Maker logged 16 minutes off the bench for Detroit in what would eventually turn into a loss. During his time on the floor, his denial of Curry would serve as his lone block, adding six points and two rebounds, as well. Curry fared much better, collecting 16 points on 5-for-9 shooting off the bench, adding five rebounds.

The 7-foot-1 Maker spent the first 35 games of the 2018-19 campaign with the Milwaukee Bucks, who boast the best record in the league. Averaging fewer than 12 minutes per game, Maker was given the chance to contribute elsewhere, with a trade to the Pistons swung in February. Since then, he has appeared in 17 contests (one start) with Detroit and averaged 5.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks across 17.9 minutes per game.

With Detroit closing in on a playoff berth in the Eastern Conference, Maker is beginning to find his niche off the bench for a team that boasts one of the league's elite frontcourts in the tandem of Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond. Having just turned 22 years old, Maker is only just beginning to discover his potential, while still utilizing his natural talents, such as running the floor and denying unsuspecting guards at the rim.
