Golden State Warriors point guard D’Angelo Russell, who is eligible to be traded starting Sunday, has been linked to the Detroit Pistons.

However, according to Vincent Ellis of The Detroit Free Press, there doesn't appear to be a trade in the works that sends Russell from the Warriors to the Pistons:

The Pistons have been linked to Golden State Warriors point guard D’Angelo Russell if you want to go deep into the rumor mill.

I checked in with another league source and was told there is nothing “interesting going on.”

The Warriors acquired Russell from the Brooklyn Nets in the Kevin Durant sign-and-trade deal. Russell signed a four-year, $117 million contract with the Dubs.

Pistons starting point guard Reggie Jackson has only appeared in two games this season due to a back injury. Former MVP Derrick Rose is the best guard on Detroit, but Bruce Brown starts for the team because head coach Dwane Casey wants to manage Rose's minutes given Derrick's injury history.

The Pistons are 10-15 on the season, 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings. There's still time for Detroit to turn things around and get inside the playoff standings.

Acquiring Russell from the Warriors would help Detroit win more games and contend for the playoffs, but it doesn't look like a deal will happen.
