The Pittsburgh Steelers offseason outlook should provide some optimism for the fanbase. It's not like this franchise is in a bad spot, but they do have multiple holes to fill on the offense. For that reason, we take a look at some of our Steelers' offseason predictions as they prepare for the new year of NFL football.

Pittsburgh is defensively sound and should be the driving force of this roster. Although the Steelers participate in a crowded AFC North division, they should be able to hold their own next year. Even so, we could see the front office pull the trigger and select an exciting defensive rookie in the upcoming draft.

The offense is where the problems lie for this franchise. Pittsburgh needs as many weapons as possible, which means they could look to re-sign Juju Smith-Schuster. However, the Steelers are desperate to upgrade their offensive line. For that reason, we could see the front office look for a more financially friendly replacement for Ben Roethlisberger.

With that said, here are four bold Steelers offseason predictions.

Steelers Offseason Predictions

4. The team surprisingly selects a defensive prospect in the NFL Draft

It's not like the Steelers need any more help on the defense, but there is a chance they see a player they like and select him early on in the NFL Draft. Pittsburgh has a knack for finding defensive talent, as this franchise seems to always have one of the best units in the league. Look for the front office to pull the trigger within the first two rounds, as this class is loaded with interesting prospects.

3. Front office re-signs Juju Smith-Schuster

After failing to gain much attention in free agency last year, Juju Smith-Schuster aims for a big payday once again. For the Steelers, it would make sense to bring Smith-Schuster back. Doing so gives Pittsburgh legitimate weapons that most quarterbacks can work with.

Furthermore, it allows the front office to focus more on restricting the offensive line. So, if the Steelers are looking to trade for a starting-caliber quarterback, they'll have a competent roster at their disposal for whoever they reel in. Between that receiver group and Najee Harris, the offense should be able to make the necessary improvements next year.

2. Pittsburgh makes massive improvements to the offensive line

This is by far the weakest area for the Steelers. If they hope to be competitive, Pittsburgh needs to make the necessary moves and improve the offensive line. Between free agency, trading, and the NFL Draft, the front office should be able to do its job and reconstruct the trenches upfront.

1. Steelers sign Mitchell Trubisky and draft a rookie quarterback

Between solidifying the receiving core and focusing on stacking the offensive line, that might leave the Steelers stranded at the quarterback position. A smart move to make up for it would be to sign a free agent like Mitchell Trubisky and draft a rookie quarterback within the first two rounds. Doing so provides Pittsburgh with options once training camp opens up in the summer.

Trubisky isn't a terrible quarterback and more than deserves a second chance. The Steelers would be a great fit, as the offense already has a decent amount of weapons. With Mike Tomlin as head coach, Mitchell Trubisky could resurrect his career in Pittsburgh. Selecting a rookie is a nice insurance plan in case the free-agent signing doesn't pan out.
