Lionel Messi has spoken about how things have been going for him at Paris Saint-Germain so far.
During Paris Saint-Germain's 3-1 victory over FC Nantes on Saturday, Lionel Messi finally made his mark on his new team and scored his first Ligue 1 goal of the season.
Prior to the monumental moment, many have been criticizing Messi as they believe the Argentine can't work the magic he had with Barcelona at PSG. However, the six-time Ballon d'Or winner assured that the adjustment period is already over, suggesting that big things are bound to happen soon.
“Now I am very well [at PSG],” Messi said via Marca. “I am fully adapted ever since we were able to enter our new home and the children started school and their daily routine. We also had to go through many trips to Argentina for the qualifiers that prevented us from having continuity with matches here. But I've settled down well.”
PSG has been a UEFA Champions League contender even before Messi arrived. Now that he has joined two other superstars in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, fans are convinced that they are favorites to dominate Europe once again.
However, Messi is not being over confident as the thinks there are still a lot of room for improvement at PSG.
“Everyone says that we are the big favorites and I will not deny that we are one of the candidates by name, but we still need things to become a really strong team,” he explained. “We have to finish consolidating as a team and we have the advantage of having very great players to achieve it. But we are not the only ones, there are other great teams that are candidates. The Champions League is a very difficult competition, that makes it so beautiful and special. The best teams are there and it is getting more and more complicated. Yes, amongst the favorites, but not the only ones.”
