Jordy Nelson was released by the Green Bay Packers in the offseason and ended up signing a contract with the Oakland Raiders. It was a move that many thought would positively impact the Raiders' offense, but that has not been the case. Instead, the Raiders are struggling and may very well be headed for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Now, there have been rumors that Nelson could be considering retirement. After the Raiders' loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10, Chris Reed of Silver&BlackToday reported that Nelson could end up retiring. He has since backed away from that report, stating that it was purely speculation.

Seeing Nelson retire would be a sad day for the NFL. He has been one of the league's top wide receivers for years and has always respectably carried himself.
Throughout the nine games that he has played this season with the Raiders, Nelson has caught 25 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns. He simply has not been able to figure out consistent chemistry with quarterback Derek Carr. Part of the issue has been the poor decision-making and lack of confidence from Carr.
Nelson has even taken over the No. 1 wide receiver role for the Raiders. Amari Cooper was traded to the Dallas Cowboys, but that move has not opened up more of a role for Nelson.
At 33 years old, Nelson likely only has a few good seasons left in him. Leaving Oakland may be something that he would like to do in the near future. Perhaps a return to Green Bay could be an option for him.
Expect to see Nelson continue his NFL career moving forward. It would seem a bit of a rushed decision to retire at this point in the year and even more unlikely.
